Andrea Pinarello, whose father founded the frame-making business that bears the family name and supplies Team Sky and Movistar, has died at the age of 40 after suffering a heart attack at the end of the first stage of the amateur Giro del Friuli, in which he was taking part. His widow Gloria is expecting the couple’s third child.
Aged 40, Andrea was the youngest son of ex-professional cyclist Giovanni Pinarello and was head of marketing at the family-owned business.
